Grace Shen, Ph.D.
 

Dr. Grace Shen is the Group Leader and Director for the Retinal Diseases Program at the National Eye Institute. In addition to managing a portfolio of NIH grants, she serves as a member on various trans-NIH committees: Trans-NIH Lymphatic Research Coordination Committee, Diabetes Mellitus Interagency Coordinating Committee (DMICC), Trans-NIH Diabetes Complications Working Group, Trans-NIH Geroscience Interest Group (GSIG) Steering Committee, and NIH Common Fund Single Cell Analysis Working Group. She has taken the lead in organizing the NIH Common Fund Single Cell Analysis annual workshop (2012 and 2013) and brought together leading scientists to discuss this latest cutting edge field of science. She also serves as a faculty member of the NIH Extramural Staff Scientist Core Curriculum Training Program. Grace was trained in cancer genetics, conducting research on the myc and myb oncogenes. She has also worked in industry and developed and managed a comprehensive tumor microarray project. She has been at NEI since 2003.
