Dr. Melissa Green Parker is currently a Health Specialist in the Office of Strategic Coordination (OSC). Prior to joining the OSC in 2013, she served as the Director of the Division of Science and Technology for a non-profit organization that implemented national programs aimed at increasing representation from underrepresented persons in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics workforce. Later she served as a technical Science Officer for high-risk, breast cancer research grants managed by the Department of Defense/Congressionally Medical Research Programs (DOD/CDMRP). Before transitioning away from the laboratory, Dr. Green Parker enjoyed a productive research career as a Research Associate Scientist at both the Morehouse School of Medicine (Atlanta, GA) and Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS). She acquired extensive expertise in cancer biology, virology and reproductive medicine through these experiences. Dr. Green Parker holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Indiana University School of Medicine and a B.S. in Chemistry from Claflin College.
