Assistant Directors Announcement

The NIH Office of Strategic Coordination/Common Fund welcomes applications for three leadership positions The OSC/CF is located within the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the NIH Director. It provides leadership and coordination on a broad range of NIH-wide strategic programs that aim to transform the way biomedical and behavioral research is conducted - through support for paradigm-shifting research, through the generation of catalytic tools and data resources, and by establishing and evaluating novel models for clinical and behavioral research and workforce development.

The OSC/CF is recruiting three senior scientific leaders who will serve as Assistant Directors (GS 15 Supervisory, Health Scientist Administrators) to provide leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Common Fund programs. Each leader will manage a team of highly dedicated and talented staff in one of three broad scientific areas that Common Fund programs address: Transformational Science and Discovery, Catalytic Data Resources, and Re-engineering Clinical/Behavioral Research and Workforce Development. They will build and maintain relationships with NIH and academic colleagues, professional societies, government agencies, and the private sector. These relationships will allow them to anticipate emerging scientific challenges and opportunities, to develop concepts for new Common Fund programs, and to ensure that the broad community is aware of the technologies, methods, and resources made available by the Common Fund. They will provide broad scientific leadership to ongoing programs and will work with domestic and international experts to assess the impact of Common Fund investments. Finally, each Assistant Director will build and support a diverse team to ensure that Common Fund programs benefit from perspectives and scientific expertise that reflect the communities we strive to serve.

The salaries for these positions are based upon individual qualifications and professional experience. A full benefits package is available, which includes, but is not limited to retirement; Thrift Savings Plan participation; and health, life, and long-term care insurance.
