Common Fund Program Idea Submission Template
Common Fund programs typically involve a set of integrated initiatives (e.g., funding opportunities, workshops) to address specific barriers to research in a given field and/or to seize upon emerging opportunities to propel a field forward. Common Fund programs are goal-driven, with specific goals to be achieved within a 5-10 year period.
The strategic planning process to identify potential new ideas for Common Fund programs occurs in two phases over an 18-month period. During Phase 1 strategic planning, ideas that represent broad challenges or areas of science that may be suitable for Common Fund investment are identified. The goal of the Forward Focus Workshop is to identify new ideas for as part of Phase 1 strategic planning for potential new programs beginning FY2014.
