Brief description of research areas being targeted by the Institution for the EIA initiative (with specific websites, if available):
The Division of Basic Sciences of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is seeking talented graduate students or recent graduates to nominate for the NIH Director's Early Independence Award. Researchers in the broad areas of structural, genetic, molecular, cellular, developmental, computational and evolutionary biology are welcome to apply. Materials that prospective EIA candidates need to submit:
Candidates should provide a Curriculum Vitae, Research Statement, Cover Letter, and contact information for three referees. Candidates should also identify a Hutchinson Center faculty member who is familiar with the research area and can assist in the review process. The deadline is October 31 2012. Description of process for prospective EIA candidates (if available):
Selected applicants will be asked to prepare a two-page proposal for an internal competition that will choose up to two candidates for nomination by the Center. Nominees will be required to submit a full grant application to the NIH by January 31 2013. Successful grantees will be offered independent space in the Division of Basic Sciences as non-tenure track faculty members, with the title of Hutchinson Fellow.
