The NIH Director's Early Independence Award Program supports exceptional investigators who wish to pursue independent research directly after completion of their terminal doctoral/research degree or clinical residency, thereby foregoing the traditional post-doctoral training period. Ohio State welcomes applicants from any of the health sciences discipline. Potential applicants should be engaged in discussions with a potential Ohio State mentor before submitting an application.

Applicant Instructions Please prepare a 3-page or less description of how the project addresses this program’s guidelines and attach, in the same document, a copy of the PI's curriculum vitae. Also please include with the description the: • Sponsor name • Funding opportunity name and sponsor number • PI’s name, department, and college • Title of the proposed project Submission deadline is October 1, 2012.
Description of process for prospective EIA candidates (if available):
Applicants will be reviewed by a committee composed each college's associate dean for research.
