OSC Director's Message:

Elizabeth Wilder, Ph.D. Director, Office of Strategic Coordination
|
Wow! The Common Fund has 14 RFAs that are currently "on the street." They solicit applications for investigator-defined transformative projects as well as applications that address major research challenges and opportunities defined through our annual Strategic Planning process. These new research opportunities are possible because of the transient nature of Common Fund support. Common Fund awards stimulate new experimental approaches, develop new technologies or data sets, and allow high risk, potentially high impact projects to get a start before moving to other sources of support. The expectation is that these goals can be met in 5-10 years, allowing the Common Fund to remain responsive to new, emerging scientific opportunities and challenges. As mature programs end, new programs can be launched. Thus, we have new opportunities for basic, translational, and clinical research, covering a wide spectrum of NIH interests. Be sure to check these out through the links below! |

Protein Capture Reagents program needs input!
|
The Common Fund’s Protein Capture Reagents program is seeking community input on a priority list for renewable affinity reagents for human transcription factors. We want: |
1) to receive public comment on the priority list, and
2) to encourage community involvement by assisting in reagent validation for multiple uses, the highest priority being for ChIP-Seq.

Extracellular RNA Communication Collaborators Wanted!
|
The Extracellular RNA Communications program has opened a Web Collaboration Tool, which helps researchers find potential collaborators who are also interested in extracellular RNA biology. Researchers can create a research profile detailing their expertise and research interests, and browse profiles entered by others.

Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) program needs input!
|
The NIH Common Fund GTEx Working Group is interested in your feedback. Let us know your thoughts on:
- the level of interest in using GTEx biospecimens
- the types of analyses being considered,
- the level of funding support that would be required,
- how well suited the existing sample types are for the proposed analyses.
