Super-persistent Cells and the Paradox of Untreatable Infections







































Pathogenic microorganisms produce dormant persister cells that are tolerant to all known antibiotics. Persisters are the likely cause of untreatable chronic infections such as cystic fibrosis, unhealing wounds or biofilms of indwelling devices.
