Insulin Regulation of Monoamine Signaling: Pathway to Obesity

Insulin Regulation of Monoamine Signaling: Pathway to Obesity

Our diet creates a vortex of changes in the brain at the molecular level that ultimately change synaptic transmission. We now have the opportunity to study these changes in a variety of model organisms, including worms, mice, and rats, using state-of-the-art techniques including biophysics, biochemistry, genetics, imaging, and behavior. The objective is to understand how our diet and environment cement changes in brain function leading to obesity and related problems such as addiction, impaired cognition, and depression.
