Viral Pathogenesis of Idiopathic Bone Marrow Failure and Immune Cytopenias
Many hematologic diseases may be caused by viruses, some of which have not been identified. To identify such viruses, DNA is extracted from patient blood cells and placed on a “viral array” which contains large numbers of DNA probes for known and novel viruses. Once a viral trigger is identified and confirmed, diagnostic tests can be designed, as well as specific prevention methods and therapies.
