Fatty Acid Signals as Quorum Sensing Regulators of Mitochondrial Biogenesis

This is a fluorescent image of a C2C12 muscle cell. The cell stretches from the lower left to the upper right hand side of the picture. The green reticular structures are mitochondria which have been labeled by a mitochondrially targeted GFP fusion protein. The dark oval (absence of signal) in the center of the cell is the nucleus.
