I think that structural comparisons of exosome cargo to the functional molecules in parental cells will advance our understanding of the roles of exosomes and their potential for therapeutics and diagnostics.

The capacity to develop a technology enabling to selectively work on sub-populations of exosomes coming from a specific tissue/cell type.

We need consistent methodology for preparing exosomes and for assuring exosome purity so investigators are describing the same structures. At present there are multiple descriptions of investigators and its difficult to ascertain if observed differences are due to methodology or to meaningful biological differences.
